Rain, Lament,
by Doug McKenna
Wide eyed and staring
Wet grass is tickling
I only hear you breathing
And the softly creeping dew
Spent the day dreaming
Spend the night singing
Always entertaining
But I greet the morning blue
Why?
Why does the rain come down
When all that I need is the sun?
The awakening arriving
Spend the season dying
But I cling to hopes of rising
On a Sunday afternoon
Why?
Why does the rain come down
When all that I need is the sun?
Desire comes in waves
And never enough is too much
